South Coast Mesa, CA (Cable Muse Network, LLC) - Actress and style icon Eva Mendes wearing a 50’s style knee-length
dress with a blurred rosette pattern launched her new colorful tabletop collection, Vida for España at Macy’s
Home store inside the South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa on Saturday in front of a large crowd of nearly 400 viewers.
The new line, Vida by Eva Mendes, announced in the fall of last year, is anything but
unadorned, just as the actress herself is quite an informal and energetic presence on the scene. Inspired by her childhood
memories of spending time with her family and friends while enjoying great food and her travels across the globe to destinations
such as Turkey, the hand-painted dinner- and serve-ware has bold colors and elegant global patterns.
very excited because I’m launching my dinnerware. It’s an affordable, beautiful dinner ware that is very informal,
very sheik, and easy to mix and match. I really take my influences from different places that I go to, for example I was just
in Istanbul, Turkey and the patterns and the culture were amazing so I guess I stole a little bit from there,” explained
Vida , which is defined as ‘life’ in Spanish came to
implementation last September when Macy’s first announced the partnership with The Hitch actress and released a luxury
bedding line shortly after. “Vida is about easy luxury – the colors, fabrics and textures that I live and love,
brought to life in a stylish, comfortable and affordable way,’ Eva said.
The price of the tabletop collection varies with some pieces such as the beaded 4 piece
place setting set as low as $38 and some pieces such as the Almalfi 4 piece place setting as high as $50. The first 150 customers
who made a Vida for España purchase of at least $50 were granted the opportunity to meet the starlet and receive an
autographed photo of Eva.
The 35 year old former California State Northridge University student turned actress’s
upcoming projects in 2010 will include two films, Last Night and The Other Guys. In Last Night, Mendes will co-star with Keira
Knightley and Sam Worthington and in The Other Guys will join an all-star cast that include Mark Wahlberg, Samuel L. Jackson,
Will Ferrell and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
